For over three decades, the Linda Jamieson School of Dance has provided children, teens, and young adults with comprehensive study in dance, winning many awards and turning out many Professional Dancers who perform in numerous companies around the world including the National Ballet of Canada, The Royal Winnipeg Ballet Company, Alvin Ailey Dance Company in New York City as well as numerous Cruise Lines. The Linda Jamieson School of Dance (LJSD) is staffed by a team of qualified dance professionals who have completed examinations by the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD).
RAD is a leading dance organization established in 1920 to develop dance teaching standards. Originally from the United Kingdom, RAD has expanded to 79 countries worldwide and has a membership of over 14,000. RAD sets exams that are considered the benchmark for classical ballet worldwide. It also provides dance teacher education programs alongside continuing professional education opportunities.
Faculty at LJSD are uniquely qualified to teach and examine dance students, given their deep associations with RAD. The school’s director, Linda Jamieson, has completed major syllabus work at RAD and is a member of the organization. Ellen Andrews, part of the LJSD faculty, has been a Master Teacher and Dual Examiner with RAD for over 30 years. She has sat on the organization’s board of Major Examiners and traveled the world to conduct examinations and workshops.
Other LJSD faculty have completed various RAD exams. They include Rory McCoy, who has completed all RAD’s Ballet Examinations and is a Full Member; Caleigh Garbutt, who has completed RAD’s ballet exams from Grade 1 to Advanced 2, Alexa Baird, who teaches at LJSD, have also completed RAD examinations and are fully qualified. Alexa Baird is also a fully qualified Elementary School Teacher. She is fully certified from Grade 1 to Grade 8 by the Ontario Elementary School Teachers Program . She adored by her students and by all who know her excellent work.
